Kcee Reveals Origin of Alleged Feud With Flavour, Says He Saw No Potential in Him Years Ago

Kcee opens up about the roots of his alleged rift with Flavour, recalling their first encounter and addressing industry misunderstandings, underrated talent, and past criticisms.

Nigerian singer Kcee has shed new light on the beginnings of his alleged feud with fellow artist Flavour, explaining that the tension dates back to their first-ever meeting.

The issue between both musicians resurfaced in 2024 after Flavour made a post criticizing an unnamed person for copying his musical style. Although he didn’t mention any names, Kcee responded publicly, warning against gatekeeping Igbo cultural music.

In a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Kcee explained that the supposed rift started long before the social media drama. He said he met Flavour many years ago when talent manager Soso Soberekon brought the singer to him for possible signing.

Kcee said he turned down the deal, not out of dislike, but because he didn’t see Flavour’s potential at the time.

He explained:

“I came into the music industry before Flavour. Soso Soberekon brought him to me years ago to sign to my record label. I was already driving exotic cars and balling before he came to Lagos. I told Soso I couldn’t sign Flavour because I didn’t see potential in him at that time.”

According to Kcee, many colleagues have underestimated him over the years because he doesn’t boast about his success.

He added:

“Till now, I don’t understand the reason for his beef with me. A lot of my colleagues underrate my talent, and my humility also contributed to that. I don’t brag. I don’t need it. Time will always prove them wrong.”

Kcee further noted that his achievements in the industry have eventually silenced many critics, with some even returning to apologise.

“My work always proves every doubter wrong. Some of those who doubted me in the past have come to apologise and admitted they were wrong about me.”
