Bandit Attack in Sokoto Mosque: Imam and Worshipper Killed, Several Abducted

Breaking news from Sokoto State — Bandits attacked a mosque in Kiba Ruwa, Sabon-Birni, killing the imam and another worshipper while abducting several others during early morning prayers.
Bandits launched a deadly early-morning attack on worshippers at a mosque in Kiba Ruwa, a community located in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on Saturday. The assailants struck as worshippers were observing the Subh (dawn) prayer, catching the congregation completely off guard.

According to local sources who spoke with Egbe Mekun Parrots, the attackers entered the mosque at dawn and opened fire indiscriminately on those present. The tragic incident resulted in the death of two people, including the imam who was leading the prayer.

In addition to the fatalities, several worshippers were abducted by the bandits. The exact number of those kidnapped remains unknown as security agencies are still investigating the attack.

Residents of Kiba Ruwa have expressed shock and fear following the attack, with many calling on the government and security forces to increase protection for communities and places of worship in the area.

The Sokoto State government has yet to release an official statement on the incident. Security personnel have reportedly launched operations to track down the attackers and secure the release of the kidnapped worshippers.

This attack adds to the growing list of violent incidents carried out by bandits in northwest Nigeria, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect civilians and religious institutions.
