The Gidan Waya community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State is reeling after a deadly attack by armed bandits last week. Residents have now released photographs of 12 people abducted during the raid, appealing for their swift and safe return.

According to reports, the attack left four people dead and several others injured. Among those taken are a minor, six women, three young men, and an ECWA Church Reverend, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the violence.

Community members have expressed deep concern for the victims’ safety, urging security agencies and the government to take urgent action. “These are our sons, daughters, and neighbors. We call on the authorities to help us secure their release,” said one community leader.

Kidnapping for ransom remains a significant security challenge in Kaduna and other parts of northern Nigeria, with many communities living in fear of similar attacks.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the status of the victims, and the community continues to call on the bandits to release them unharmed.
