Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has revealed that his son will finally be laid to rest once the ongoing DNA court case involving Mohbad’s son, Liam, is concluded.
In a video shared on his official TikTok page on Tuesday, December 2, Mr. Aloba stated that the most important step before Mohbad’s burial is the completion of the DNA test to determine the paternity of his grandson. According to him, the legal process must be finalized before any burial plans can proceed.
“Today is the DNA court case, so we are here now. My lawyer is here. I am telling the whole world that this is the most important thing, and this is exactly what is delaying the burial of Mohbad. After the DNA is done, we can move to the burial,”

Background of the Ongoing Mohbad Case
Mohbad, a former Marlian Music artiste, died on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that sparked nationwide controversy. The singer was initially buried the next day, September 13, in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
However, following public outcry and requests for a thorough investigation into the cause of his death, his remains were exhumed on September 21, 2023, for a detailed autopsy. Since then, Mohbad’s body has remained in the morgue pending the conclusion of the investigation and necessary legal processes.
Although a court granted approval for a proper burial, the family has reportedly struggled to reach an agreement, largely due to the unresolved DNA test dispute and other internal issues.
Why the DNA Test Matters
The DNA case revolves around determining the paternity of Mohbad’s only son, Liam, whom his wife, Wunmi, has continuously maintained belongs to the late singer. Joseph Aloba, however, insists on a court-supervised DNA test.
According to him, laying Mohbad to rest without establishing legal clarity on the child’s paternity would create complications in the future, especially regarding inheritance, custody, and family rights.
Public Reaction
This latest statement has triggered renewed reactions across social media, with many Nigerians urging the family to prioritize peace, dignity, and closure. Fans of Mohbad—popularly known as the "Imolenization" community—continue to demand justice and transparency in the case.
For now, the final burial date remains uncertain, as everything depends on the court’s decision regarding the DNA test.
