FCT Police Stop Planned Community Attack, Kill Three Bandits, Recover Weapons in Swift Operation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has foiled what could have been a major attack on a community within the Territory, following the arrest of a notorious suspect and the neutralization of three armed bandits during a coordinated security operation.

How the Operation Unfolded

According to the Police Command, officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit acted on credible intelligence that a group of armed criminals was planning a large-scale strike on an undisclosed community in the FCT.
The team immediately launched a strategic mission, tracking the movements of the suspects into a forest hideout believed to be one of their operational bases.

Key suspect Sani Mohammed Umar, popularly known as “Boko,” was arrested during the intelligence-led operation. Authorities described him as a known collaborator with several bandit groups operating around border communities.

Gun Duel Inside the Forest

While attempting to apprehend other members of the group, operatives encountered resistance, leading to a fierce gun battle.
In the exchange, three armed bandits were neutralized, while others escaped with injuries into the surrounding bush.

Security personnel continued combing the area to prevent regrouping, block escape routes, and recover more weapons.

Weapons and Ammunition Recovered

A significant cache of arms was seized from the scene, including:

Three AK-47 rifles

Loaded magazines

33 rounds of live ammunition

The police say the recovery confirms the group’s readiness for a violent attack before the intervention.

Police and Military Continue Joint Operations

The FCT Police Command, working closely with the Nigerian Army, has intensified surveillance in the affected axis and other vulnerable locations across the Territory.
Authorities also noted that more operations would follow in the coming days to track fleeing suspects and dismantle additional hideouts.

Residents Advised to Stay Alert

FCT residents have been urged to maintain high vigilance and immediately report:

Suspicious persons

Strange movements

Activities around uncompleted buildings or forest pathways

The Command reassured the public that proactive intelligence gathering and rapid response efforts remain ongoing to ensure the safety of communities.

Conclusion

The swift operation by the FCT Police not only prevented a potential tragedy but also demonstrated improved coordination between security agencies. With arrests made, weapons recovered, and multiple threats neutralized, authorities say they remain committed to keeping the FCT safe
