BREAKING: Anthony Joshua Involved in Fatal Road Accident in Ogun State as Two Persons Confirmed Dead

World-renowned British heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has reportedly been involved in a serious and fatal road accident in Ogun State, Nigeria, sparking widespread concern among fans and the general public.

According to eyewitness accounts, the tragic incident occurred at about 11:00 a.m. on Monday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, specifically around Makun area near Danco Filling Station, before the Sagamu Interchange. The crash reportedly involved a Lexus Jeep conveying Joshua and a stationary truck parked by the roadside.

Eyewitnesses stated that the Lexus Jeep, which had four occupants, rammed into the truck under circumstances that are still unclear. Anthony Joshua was said to be seated at the back of the vehicle, while two other passengers — one sitting beside him and another in the front seat — were confirmed dead at the scene.

An eyewitness identified as Adeniyi Orojo, who reportedly assisted during the rescue efforts, said the scene was devastating. He explained that he immediately tried to get help by stopping vehicles and calling emergency responders until officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived.

The accident reportedly involved a two-vehicle convoy, with Joshua’s security detail following behind in a second vehicle. Members of the security team were said to have quickly moved in to secure the scene and assist with rescue operations as passersby gathered.
Photos and videos from the scene, which have circulated widely on social media, show a badly damaged vehicle, further fueling fears about the severity of the crash. Fans across Nigeria and around the world have since taken to social media platforms to express shock, prayers, and concern over Joshua’s safety.

As of the time of filing this report, Anthony Joshua’s medical condition has not been officially confirmed, and authorities are yet to release a full statement on his status.
Efforts to reach the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) Commandant, Akinbiyi Babatunde, for clarification were unsuccessful. However, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed that an accident occurred in the area and stated that further details would be made available after investigations.

Officials are expected to determine the exact cause of the crash, including whether factors such as speed, visibility, mechanical failure, or road conditions played a role in the fatal incident.
This remains a developing story, and more updates are expected as emergency agencies and law enforcement authorities conclude their investigations and release official statements.
