Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei Killed in Major Military Strike

Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, has reportedly been killed following a large-scale military strike involving the United States and Israel. His death marks one of the most significant political events in the Middle East in recent decades.

According to official reports from Iranian state media, the attack occurred during coordinated airstrikes targeting key military and leadership sites. Khamenei, who had ruled Iran since 1989, was said to have been present at a secured location when the strike happened. Authorities later confirmed his death and announced a 40-day national mourning period.

Khamenei became Supreme Leader after the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and remained the highest authority in Iran for over three decades. As Supreme Leader, he controlled the armed forces, judiciary, and major state institutions, and played a central role in Iran’s foreign policy, especially regarding the United States and Israel.

Following the announcement, Iranian leaders condemned the attack and warned of consequences. An interim leadership structure is expected to manage state affairs until a new Supreme Leader is selected by the country’s constitutional body responsible for that process.

His death creates uncertainty about Iran’s political future and raises concerns about rising tensions across the region. The coming days are likely to shape the next chapter in Iran’s leadership and Middle Eastern geopolitics.
