The Nigerian Army has rescued 10 kidnapped victims in Kaduna State during a major operation under Sector 5 of Operation Peace Shield. Troops also recovered weapons, ammunition, and ransom money after a gun battle with the criminals.
The Nigerian Army has achieved another major success in the ongoing fight against banditry in Kaduna State. Troops of Sector 5 under Operation PEACE SHIELD carried out a coordinated clearance operation that led to the rescue of 10 kidnapped victims who had been held captive by armed criminals in the area.
According to military sources, the operation followed credible intelligence on the movement and hideouts of the kidnappers. Soldiers launched a surprise offensive, engaging the armed group in a fierce gun battle. The superior firepower of the troops forced the criminals to flee, abandoning their victims.
During the operation, the soldiers recovered several weapons, rounds of ammunition, communication devices, and a sum of money suspected to be part of the ransom collected from families of victims. All rescued persons were immediately taken to a secure location for medical checks and debriefing.
Military authorities praised the bravery and resilience of the troops, noting that the operation is part of renewed efforts to restore peace and security across Kaduna and other parts of the North-West. Residents also commended the Army for responding swiftly and reducing the activities of kidnappers in the area.
