Willie Obiano Debunks Death Report, Says He Is “Hale and Hearty”

In a dramatic turn on Friday, former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano publicly refuted circulating online reports claiming he had died. Taking to his verified Facebook page, he personally addressed the rumours, calling them baseless and a product of mischief-makers.

> “I am alive, hale, hearty, and in excellent health. By the special grace of God, I am doing very well,” he wrote, expressing disappointment at how easily falsehoods can spread.

He went on to thank his well-wishers: “To everyone who reached out with calls, messages, and prayers … your love and goodwill mean more than words can express.”

What’s Behind the Rumours

Some of the viral reports claimed Obiano had passed away in London after a serious health episode. But former Commissioner for Information in his administration, C. Don Adinuba, strongly denied these claims. He confirmed that Obiano actually resides in Texas, USA, not London, and described the death rumours as “false and mischievous.”

Adinuba further emphasized that Obiano is in excellent shape — “healthy, strong, and remarkably agile for someone who has just turned 70.”

Why It Matters

The speed at which these rumours spread underscores how quickly misinformation can gain traction, especially on social media.

That a former governor of Obiano’s standing would need to publicly clarify his own “death” speaks to the vulnerability even high-profile figures face online.

Messages like his remind us of the very human toll of misinformation — not just on reputations, but on families, supporters, and public trust.

Final Word

Obiano’s rebuttal is unequivocal: he’s alive, well, and grateful. He asked everyone to ignore the false reports and reaffirmed his focus on faith, gratitude, and staying grounded.
