A rising teenage TikTok influencer, Praise Nwogu, widely known online as CandyTeddy, has reportedly landed in serious trouble after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested her over the alleged production and sale of brownies infused with illicit substances.
According to a detailed statement issued by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media & Advocacy, the 19-year-old content creator was picked up on Saturday, November 22, in Benin City, Edo State, following intelligence reports about her activities. The operatives reportedly stormed her location and carried out a search that led to the recovery of 12 plates and one cup of the suspected drug-laced brownies.
The NDLEA alleges that CandyTeddy had been running an online-based operation where she advertised the brownies to her followers and delivered orders to buyers within and outside Benin City. The agency further noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the scale of the distribution network and whether she worked alone or as part of a larger ring.
Her arrest has caused mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing shock due to her young age and growing popularity on TikTok, where she regularly posts lifestyle and entertainment content. Others have praised the NDLEA for intensifying its crackdown on substance-related crimes, especially those disguised as snacks and edibles targeted at young people.
The agency has assured the public that the case will be pursued thoroughly, adding that the increasing trend of drug-infused edibles among youths remains a major national concern.
As the investigation continues, many are watching closely to see what legal steps will follow and what this arrest means for the popular TikToker whose rise to fame has now taken a dramatic turn.
